Adamax itself has not been characterized in the indexed literature. The parent peptide Semax binds specific sites on rat basal forebrain membranes, is reported to increase BDNF protein and neurotrophin gene expression in rodent brain tissue, and inhibits enkephalin-degrading peptidases in serum.
