PT-141 Spray contains PT-141 (bremelanotide), a synthetic cyclic heptapeptide lactam analog of α-melanocyte-stimulating hormone, Ac-Nle-cyclo[Asp-His-D-Phe-Arg-Trp-Lys]-OH. It differs from Melanotan II by a C-terminal carboxylic acid in place of the amide.

Bremelanotide is a non-selective melanocortin-receptor agonist, with a reported potency order of MC1R > MC4R > MC3R > MC5R > MC2R. These class A G-protein-coupled receptors signal through Gs and cyclic AMP, and MC3R and MC4R are expressed in hypothalamic neurons.

PT-141 Spray is supplied as a pre-dissolved aqueous solution of PT-141 in a 15 mL metered dispensing container, a format intended to simplify aliquoting and laboratory handling without a separate dissolution step. Keep the container sealed and refrigerated, protected from light, and avoid freezing; identity and purity of the dissolved material should be confirmed analytically before use.
